26A – Celebrating Failure
1) A time this past semester that I failed.
A time I failed this past semester was when I set an expectation and goal for myself to work out more and eat healthier. I know this goal may seem rather small for some - but after having a blood clot my first year at the University of Florida, my overall health has become exceptionally more important to me. Although I absolutely did work out a ton and eat healthier - I didn't achieve my end goal. I believe this was made exceptionally hard due to unforeseen circumstances such as the current health crisis.
2) What I learned from it.
What I truly learned from this 'failure' is that small wins are just as important as big wins. What I mean by this is that every day I decided to go to the gym, stay a couple minutes longer, not compare myself to other people, and eat healthier was a small win. Although I didn't meet my end goal this semester, I am so much closer to it. I learned that I need to trust and love the process. Many goals cannot be attained over night but by staying determined, optimistic, and deciding to have fun with it makes it exceptionally easier and makes you more motivated to complete your daily goals.

3) My Reflection.
I think in general, failure is exceptionally hard but even more than that it's eye-opening. It can help you determine what's working and what's not, your strengths and weaknesses, and areas of improvement. I think the day that we accept and embrace failure is the day that we are able to have a fully open-mind and grow in more ways than we had imagined. Moreover, I think with failure has to come adaptation otherwise you are destined to end in the same spot you are currently finding yourself in. If you studied a certain way for an exam for example and failed, why would you continue to study this way?
In conclusion, this class has exceptionally changed my perspective on failure. After learning about how countless entrepreneurs also failed many times in order to achieve greatness truly opened my eyes. This class reminded me that it's OK to be human and it's OK to fail. With failure comes grow and with grow comes achievement - whatever achievement means for you. After this class, I definitely believe I'm more likely to take a risk now than I was just a few months ago. Taking risks can have a very high payout from what we've learned but either way you're able to grow immensely. I don't want to look back on my life and wished I would've pursued an idea or passion because I doubted myself and my abilities.
