4A – Forming An Opportunity Belief

1) My  beginning point.  The University of Florida has sub-par and limited Coffee options - the only company on campus is Starbucks. I believe this is a major opportunity to expand the variety and coffee prices available on campus for University of Florida students and faculty.   2) My  belief.    The unmet need is variety and pricing in the coffee selection within at the University of Florida. Students and faculty at the University of Florida have the need. This need has existed for quite some time on the University of Florida campus. This need came from the University of Florida multiplying upon Starbucks facilities rather than incorporating new coffee companies and products. Right now, people are walking off campus to Dunkin' Donuts and much farther for small-to-medium businesses with overpriced cover to meet this need now. I believe there is a 70-80% chance that this opportunity exists.  3)  Identifying the prototypical customer....

3A - My Entrepreneurship Story

Image
The first time I was truthfully exposed to entrepreneurship was my sophomore year of high school. During this time, I had just moved from Atsugi, Japan to Oak Harbor, Washington. One of the classes I decided to take was Retail Management, and my teacher would rather frequently refer to his printing company called Ashley's Design. After an incredible semester in his class, he offered to give me a job at his company and I accepted - it was my first real job aside from babysitting. After two years of working closely with him, seeing his entrepreneurship expand the business, I found my passion for business. That's when I applied to the University of Florida as a business major, and since my enrollment I haven't changed my major. His classes and his company opened my eyes to endless opportunities. I enrolled in ENT3003 because I've heard fantastic reviews about the course. Many of my friends and colleagues have taken the course, and still say it is one of their favorite c...

2A - Bug List

The University of Florida has sub-par and limited Coffee options. As well as the entirety of the state of Florida and the majority of Eastern North America.  This is a big acquisition now, I know. However, as a military child and current resident within the state of Washington, I believe I have legitimate background and knowledge to recognize this “bug.”  While I may not have as much knowledge about every state within Eastern America, the coffee “bug” within Florida is of an everyday inconvenience to me. The state of Florida only has Dunkin’ Donuts, Starbucks, and random small-to-medium businesses here and there. This is why the “bug” exists. The quality Dunkin’ Donuts is low and inconsistent, Starbucks is overpriced and average coffee, and the local businesses are overpriced and sell small proportions.  I know what you’re asking yourself - but she’s from Washington, didn’t they create Starbucks there? Yes, in fact, it was. However, any true resident within Wa...
