30A – Final Reflection
The End of My Journey & The Beginning of My Journey
1) Reading through my posts from this semester. Recalling all of the experiences I've had a long the way -- the highs, the lows -- the fun moments, and the moments of drudgery, and even the moments of dread.
2) I think the most formative experience that I'll remember for the years to come was creating and illustrating our customer avatar and our average prospective customer. I loved getting to think about my customer market from a different perspective and going even more in depth to decipher what they do everyday, what they own, what they like, etc. I'm not sure what my most joyous experience was but I truly enjoyed getting to get out in the real world and make connections with actual business intellectuals and entrepreneurs. There's so much to learn and even more room for growth - and I'm excited to continue to expand my network and go outside my comfort zone. I think the experience that I'm most proud of myself for accomplishing were the reading assignments. I've never been the best at reading and retaining information - moreover, I don't remember the last time I read a book out of pure joy and not for academic purposes. So I'm proud of myself for being intentional with my time and making sure I completed those readings not only to get a good grade - but to gain perspective and industry knowledge.
3) Truthfully, I'm not sure if I see myself as a complete entrepreneur. I don't have any patents or business plan in place or already occurring. If every individual who had a great or good idea was an entrepreneur than everyone would be an entrepreneur. A true entrepreneur puts actions into their ideas and words. I haven't done that necessarily yet, but I've made great strides this semester in this course to do just that. Moreover, I do believe that I am moving closer to developing a true entrepreneurial mindset. I think all of assignments we completed this semester have enabled me to do so.
4) The one recommendation I would make to the students who are going to journey down this path in the future with taking this course would be - check and complete assignments early! Many assignments take time and practice to complete effectively and efficiently. As well as complete your peer reviews on Friday after noon just to get them out of the way and you don't have to worry over the weekend. I believe the best way to foster this mindset of time commitment and dedication is practice. Once you get into the grove of the class within the first couple of weeks, you'll have the timeline down. Lastly, as a pro tip, put all of the deadline times into your calendar.
Hi Caitlyn! Great Post! I couldn’t agree with you more for the advice you gave to future students in regard to be successful in this course! You most definitely need to stay on top of assignments and not wait until the last minute to complete them, because some of them can be lengthy and there is never only one blog due at a time. Great job!
ReplyDeleteHi Caitlyn!
ReplyDeleteSad to think this is my last peer review on your business for this class. All the time you spent planning to bring Whidbey Coffee to Gainesville is something you should be proud of. I 100% agree with the tips you gave to future students in this class, how they should get things done ahead of time.
Thank you for putting time into this assignment!
And for the last time, Good Job!
Hi Caitlyn! I've really enjoyed watching these ideas grow. I feel like this semester has been the longest, but also went by so fast! Thank you for putting so much effort into your posts. I also really agree with putting the deadlines and times into your calendar. In the beginning of the semester, I missed a couple of assignments due to the noon deadline. I constantly forgot that it was different than most classes.
