8A – Solving The Problem

The Second-Most Important Part of Entrepreneurship...

(1) Selected Opportunity:

The solution to the sub-par and limited coffee items at the University of Florida problem, which I have identified in the preceding exercises, would be a new coffee shop with specialty coffees such as "Frozen Mochas."

(2) Product/Service:
I believe the best coffee shop to open to optimize success would be by franchising a Whidbey Coffee shop, a well-known coffee company within the Pacific Northwest. I believe this is a major opportunity to expand the variety and coffee prices available on campus for University of Florida students and faculty. Right now, people are walking off campus to Dunkin' Donuts and much farther for small-to-medium businesses with overpriced cover to meet this need now.

  1. Hey Caityln! Great solution to the opportunity you chose to work on this semester! I think your introduction to the “frozen mocha” to offer students a new coffee item and prices is an amazing idea! Some students don’t particularly love the taste of coffee but like the effects, so introducing something like this could spark up some cliental and also introduce a fun treat to students! Great post!

  2. Hi Caitlyn,
This a great idea with good entrepreneurial spirit behind it. While I am not personally a coffee drinker, I know the demand for it is very high, especially at a college, and I'm sure students would love some variety outside the norms of Starbucks and Dunkin. I wonder how willing this company would be to franchise and whether they have had successes with franchises out of their home area in the past.
